How do you measure a dog for clothes?
Measure your dog’s neck, chest and back length before you choose. Our full size chart is below, S through XXL, with every measurement in inches. Weight is a rough guide only. Two dogs at the same weight can need different sizes, so go by the girth numbers.
Where should you measure neck, chest and back length?
Measure the neck where a collar naturally rests, the chest around the widest part of the ribcage, and the back from the base of the neck to the intended garment end. Keep the tape level without pulling it tight, record inches so the numbers match our chart, and repeat each measurement before you compare.

Every size from S to XXL, in inches. Upper and lower length, neck girth, chest girth and tummy girth, plus the weight band each size suits. Measure your pet, find the row where the neck and chest girth both fit comfortably, and order that size.

Measure, do not guess. Weight is a starting point, not the decider. Two dogs at the same weight can need different sizes, so always check neck and chest girth against the numbers above.
What if my pet falls between two sizes?
Go up, not down. A garment that is slightly roomy still lets your pet move, sit and toilet normally. One that is slightly tight rubs at the neck and armholes, and most pets will tell you about it within minutes. Check the chest girth first, since that is usually the measurement that decides.
Which dog measurement should decide the size?
Chest girth is the one that usually decides. It is the widest point, so if the chest fits the rest generally follows. Take all three measurements anyway, neck, chest and back length, and do not go by breed or body weight.
How should you check fit after dressing your dog?
A garment should allow normal walking, sitting, lying down and toileting without pulling at the neck, chest, armholes or seams. Check contact areas after dressing and again during wear. Remove the garment if movement changes, rubbing appears, panting increases, the fabric becomes wet, or the dog shows persistent scratching or distress.
